Marco Reus and the La Galaxy start the new MLS season historically badly as a master. The German team is on the abyss.
A good five months ago, Marco Reus crowned his career with a championship title. In mid -December he won the MLS with the La Galaxy. But there is currently nothing left of joy.
Three draws, eight defeats, not a single victory and the last of the Western Conference – that is the sobering record of the master after eleven games in the new MLS season, including negative record for the worst start to the season of a master in history.
With La Galaxy, Marco Reus made the worst start of a master of all time
Historical deep blow for Reus and Galaxy
The preliminary low was the 0-1 defeat against Sporting Kansas City. Kansas did not record a shot, but still won by an own goal of the ex-satellite Maya Yoshida.
LA was thus the first team in MLS history to lose a game without having approved a single shot from the opponent.
Reus already warned in March: “This is the worst start that we can have. We collect too many goals and we don’t score so many goals.”
The ex-BVB star was able to contribute a single goal this season. Eight out of 15 competitive games missed Reus because of a knee injury – and thus shows a big problem of the Galaxy: The injury concerns of important players noticeably slow down the master.
That’s why Los Angeles Galaxy has such big problems
Midfielder Riqui Puig has been missing due to his cruciate ligament tear since the beginning of December, the offensive players Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil (fell out at the beginning of the season) are now injured against Kansas. This means that LA currently has to do without players who were involved in over 50 goals last season.
In addition, these three players are the so-called “designated players”, which means that they can be paid for above the so-called salary cap, which is usually supposed to restrict the salary options of the clubs. Most of these DP are the best players in the team, such as Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
The “Designated Player Rule” was introduced in 2007 and should give the MLS the opportunity to sign international star players. The MLS promised greater awareness and attractiveness in an international comparison. The first player who was signed in 2007 was David Beckham, which is why she is also called “Beckham Rule”.
Failures are significant
“They make a big difference in the MLS and now we don’t have any more,” Yoshida explained the importance of the DP after the defeat in Kansas. As Coach Greg Vanney reveals, there is still no more precise information about the injuries of his players that they will be checked “in the next few days”.
For Reus and his team, it is to be hoped that the offensive players will quickly get fit again to finally end the negative trend.
“We have not been inferior in many of these games … We have to convert it into results, point. I want to see that our boys push and challenge each other,” Vanney took his professionals.

The team has an opportunity to implement their coach’s demands on Sunday night. At 1:30 German time, Reus and Co. meet the New York Red Bulls-it comes to the new edition of the MLS final.
Ironically, the Galaxy recently won a match against the Big Apple team – the championship and Reus’ crowning glory in mid -December.
