Former Croatian soccer player Nikola Pokrivac died in a car accident. This was announced by Croatian Association HNS. The European Championship participant from 2008 was only 39 years old.
According to HNS, the accident occurred on Friday evening in the city of Karlovac. Pokrivac, who ended his professional career because of a serious illness in 2015, played for a subclass club until the end.
Croatian media reports occurred after the training, in addition to Pokrivac, three teammates were sitting in the car that were seriously injured. Another person died in the accident with several cars involved.
Midfielder Pokrivac was used 15 times for Croatia. His professional station included AS Monaco and RB Salzburg, where he played, among other things, under coach Huub Stevens.
