Herbert conciliatory after Euroleague: “Great job did”

The world champion coach is annoyed by the missed chance, but is satisfied with the season of the Munich basketball players.

After the bitter departure of Bayern Munich’s basketball players in the Euroleague, Coach Gordon Herbert did not want to lose sight of the positive: “It is hard because we played 32 games very good basketball,” said the former national coach after 71:93 (33:52) bankruptcy at Real Madrid in the decisive game of the play-in tournament Pass-offs in the European premier class missed.

“We had the chance to end the regular season as fifth or sixth. We missed that,” said Herbert: “But overall the boys did a great job, fought through hard phases and injuries. Now it was just a difficult situation, abroad in Madrid. Nevertheless, you have to praise it.”

For national players Andreas Obst and his teammates, it is now a matter of quickly looking forward to defend the title from the pre -season in the Bundesliga: “Now the Euroleague is over. Our season was actually very good, but still the disappointment that we did not take the last step,” said Obst: “For the German championship, we have to collect and regroup again.”

In Madrid, the Munich team had to do without their top player in the most important season game. Without the Cars Edwards injured on the back, the team had no chance right from the start. After a strong start to the season, Bayern had even been able to dream of direct play-off qualification for a long time.
