Darts: Schindler after premiere victory self -critical

German number 1 creates, which only succeeded in Max Hopp in front of him. However, he doesn’t have to beat big names.

After his unexpected premiere victory, Dartsprofi Martin Schindler wrote the relief on the face.

“If I’m honest, I didn’t play great today, but I managed to win my games, and that is probably the most important thing,” said the German number one after her first triumph at a Players championship tournament.

In the eighth edition of this year’s series, Schindler prevailed 8-1 against the Swedes Jeffrey de Graaf in the final in Hildesheim. In the semifinals he had previously succeeded in a comeback when he survived several matchdarts against Patrick Geraets (Netherlands) at 3: 6 and then 7: 6.

Little ensures a tournament highlight

For Schindler, who improved through the success and the £ 15,000 prize money at world ranking position 22, it was the third tournament victory at PDC. Last year he won two tournaments of the European Tour. After Max Hopp (2018) he is the second German ever on the Players Championship tour, who won a title.

On the way there, Schindler had not had to defeat a single professional from the top 32 of the world rankings. Numerous top players such as the most world ranking Luke Humphries, world champion Luke Littler and World Cup finalist Michael van Gerwen did without participation.

In Hildesheim, in addition to Schindler, Lukas also provided little for a highlight. In his opening match, the 30-year-old from Marburg threw a nine-darter in the sixth leg against the Englishman Dom Taylor, but lost the game with 4: 6.
