Defending champion Luke Littler has reached the third round of the Darts World Championship.
The 18-year-old ultimately defeated Welshman David Davies cleanly 3-0 in sets, but almost got off to a false start. Davies missed six darts for the set win in the first leg.

“If he had hit the doubles, it would have been a completely different game,” said Littler after the match in an interview with SPORT1 . Littler quickly recovered from this brief scare and then pulled away. The world number one won sets two and three by 3-1 in legs each.
Darts World Championship: Littler Now Faces Suljovic
In the end, “The Nuke” scored 97.15 points in the three-dart average and hit 47.4 percent of his attempts on the doubles. Davies could keep up well in scoring (95.53 points) but missed too many darts on the double fields (20 percent checkout percentage).
In the third round, Littler will now face Mensur Suljovic, who, not without causing controversy, prevailed against Joe Cullen in the afternoon.
“He wrote to me before the tournament, ‘See you in Round Three.’ I wished him good luck,” Littler revealed to SPORT1 : “Hopefully it will be a good game.”
