German Day at Ally Pally: In the third round of the 2026 Darts World Championship, Martin Schindler, Gabriel Clemens, and Arno Merk will fight for a place in the round of 16. Day 15 promises excitement with matches against strong international opponents in the Alexandra Palace.

Pure excitement in the hot phase of the 2026 Darts World Championship with the next duels! On Sunday, the next third-round matches are on the program, this time with triple German participation.

Martin Schindler starts his afternoon session at 1:45 PM against England’s Ryan Searle. In the evening session, Gabriel Clemens faces a tough test against Luke Humphries at 9:30 PM, and the last duel of the evening sees World Championship debutant Arno Merk take on Michael van Gerwen.

Darts World Championship: Schindler meets Searle

Martin Schindler starts the afternoon session against England’s Ryan Searle. The duel is considered a true 50:50 match, as “The Wall” meets a rock-solid opponent who has already reached the World Championship quarter-finals several times.

Schindler has performed strongly in the first two rounds, dropping only one set against Stephen Burton and none against Keane Barry. Schindler’s accuracy on the triple-20 and his power-scoring have allowed him to afford small misses on the double fields at the start – against Searle, however, this will be hardly possible.

The Brit has been playing with darts over 30 grams for years and is one of the best power scorers in the world, although he sometimes shows nerves.

Gaga before tough test against Humphries

Gabriel Clemens faces Luke Humphries in the evening session, the 2024 World Champion and current world number two. Clemens won round two clearly 3:0 against Wessel Nijman and is in the top 32 for the fifth time.

Humphries progressed to the third round effortlessly and again presented himself in top form. A victory against Humphries would be a sensation, but Clemens has already shown in the Alexandra Palace that he can upset top players.

What can Merk achieve against MvG?

Arno Merk will then challenge Michael van Gerwen, a three-time World Champion and world number three. Merk already caused a stir when he surprisingly knocked Peter Wright out of the tournament 3:0 in round two.

Against van Gerwen, however, Merk faces difficult tasks. The Dutchman showed varying performances in the first two rounds: While he only narrowly won against Mitsuhiko Tatsunami, he presented himself in world-class form again against William O’Connor.

Which version of van Gerwen Merk encounters could be decisive. If the three-time World Champion again shows his top performance, it will be tough for the German.

Darts World Championship: The other matches on Sunday

The other afternoon sessions also bring exciting duels: Damon Heta from Australia meets Rob Cross from England.

Next up is Scotland’s Gary Anderson, who plays against the Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena.

The evening session opens with Gian van Veen from the Netherlands against Madars Razma from Latvia.

The mode also changes in the third round: it’s “Best of 7 Sets” – meaning a player needs four sets to win a match. This mode also applies in the fourth round, the round of 16.
