With his goal against Wolverhampton, Florian Wirtz has broken his personal spell and scored his first goal in the FC Liverpool jersey.
Not only the former Leverkusen player’s teammates rejoiced with Wirtz, but also former companions and national team colleague Nick Woltemade celebrated the offensive star. “King,” Woltemade wrote under a post by Wirtz, which the 22-year-old had posted on Instagram after the Reds’ 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton.
“Wirtz is finding his Flo”
Former teammate Victor Boniface, with whom Wirtz jointly won the double at Bayer Leverkusen, also congratulated the DFB star on his goal. “I told you it would come, my friend,” wrote the striker.
After the game, Wirtz received praise from his coach Arne Slot, and fans voted him “Player of the Match.” The English daily newspaper Daily Mail also used a wordplay in its Sunday morning headline: “Wirtz is finding his flo” (German: Wirtz finds his Flo[w]; ed. note. ).
After his first assist in the Premier League against Tottenham, the 22-year-old followed up with his first goal. With the Reds, the DFB star currently occupies fourth place in the table.
