The once best German departure Thomas Dreßen will in future look after talents in the European Cup.
The German Ski Association (DSV) has succeeded in redesigning its coaching team in the Alpin area.
The association has won Kitzbühelieger Thomas Dreßen for himself, the 31-year-old will support the responsible coach of the European Cup Speed team Christoph Henghuber in the future. The DSV announced this on Wednesday.
Dreßen, with five most successful German World Cup leaves, had acquired the C license after his end of his career in 2024 and already sniffed in the DSV.
As a trainer, he sees his “primary task” in “that athletes are supported to develop positively,” he said recently in the BR show Blickpunkt Sport. It was “brutally cool that I was there again in sports,” he said about a flying visit to the World Cup in Kitzbühel, where his star rose in 2018.
Maier enthusiastic about Dreßen’s plans
DSV sports director Wolfgang Maier had recently shown himself to Dreßen’s future plans. “Thomas is just a totally good guy. All doors at the DSV are open to him,” he said, “If he comes, we would be happy.”
However, Dreßen would also have to accept “a rules of the game that means: stand out every day, not just from time to time. So try to bring young people to sport every day,” said Maier. This is exactly what Dreßen plans to do in the European Cup, so to speak, in the 2nd league below the World Cup.
There, national coaches Andreas Puelacher (women) and Christian Schwaiger (men) continue their posts in the Olympic season. Andreas Silberleitner is the new coach for the speed area (departure/super-g) on the resignation, further farewells, further farewells, injuries and illnesses. He works in a team with the coaches Daniel Fischer, Tobias Lux and Andreas Fürbeck.
