FC Bayern: Pesic stops as managing director

Dragan Tarlac and Adrian Sarmiento are responsible for the new year.

After almost 15 years at the head of FC Bayern Basketball, Marko Pesic ends as managing director at the end of the year. The 48-year-old is to be preserved in an advisory role in the club afterwards, the German champion announced on Wednesday. Recently there had already been speculation about a possible withdrawal.

For “a seamless transition”, as it was said in the communication of the Munich, to expand the management of July 1, sports director Dragan Tarlac (51) and Adrian Sarmiento (38/Chief Strategy Officer). From the beginning of 2026, the duo will take the sole responsibility.

He decided “after a very long, intense route and a plenty of consideration”, said Pesic. “My job is done and it is time for others to take on other responsibility. I know Dragan and Adrian Lange, you will lead the club to the future with our employees.”

The former German international Pesic had entered the Bundesliga for the 2011/12 season as sports director after the rise of Bayern, and two years later he took over the management with the six -time champions and five cup winners.

With the whereabouts as a consultant, Pesic met a wish by club president Herbert Hainer. “He developed the club to a top club at all levels and brought it to where it is now: in the European top,” says Hainer: “Marko will accompany this transition to tried and tested hands and, fortunately, we will remain closely connected to it afterwards.”

Bayern reached some milestone under Pesics. The FCBB 2021 was the first and the only German club to receive the A license for the Euroleague and is therefore a shareholder. Since this season, the team has been in the premier class in the new SAP Garden at home.
