The Eintracht women enter the knockout phase of the newly created European Cup competition as one of the favorites for the title.
The Eintracht Frankfurt women’s football team will face PSV Eindhoven in the round of 16 of the newly created Europa Cup. This was determined by the draw on Friday in Nyon.
For coach Niko Arnautis’ team, the first leg will be on November 11th or 12th in the Netherlands, with the return match taking place on November 19th or 20th at their home stadium at Brentanobad.
On Wednesday, SGE secured their place in the round of 16 with a 1-0 victory at 1. FC Slovacko in the Czech Republic, having already won the first leg of the qualification 4-0. Previously, Frankfurt had clearly failed in the qualification for the Champions League against Real Madrid.
The newly created competition is played in a different, more traditional format than the Champions League. There is no league phase in the Europa Cup; all rounds, including the final, are played in a knockout system with home and away matches.
The further tournament progression was also drawn on Friday. Accordingly, SGE would have home advantage both in the quarterfinals in February against FC Nordsjaelland from Denmark or NS Mura (Slovenia) and in a possible semifinal in March, with the return match of the final taking place in Frankfurt in May.
