League Cup: Gittens causes ecstasy
Gittens grabbed his head with both hands, ran to the traveling fans and celebrated ecstatically with his teammates.
It was otherwise a completely successful evening for Gittens. The Englishman assisted the first two Chelsea goals by Andrey Santos (5th) and Tyrique George (15th). Additionally, striking jewel Estevao scored for the Blues (41st).
For Wolverhampton, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare (48th) and David Moller Wolfe (73rd, 90+1) joined the list of scorers.
Chelsea striker Liam Delap was sent off with a second yellow card in the final phase (86th). “This sending off is embarrassing. He received two yellow cards within seven minutes. We could have avoided both. That’s not good. After the first yellow card, I told him four or five times to stay calm,” complained coach Enzo Maresca.
