The FIFA World Football Association is driving safety plans for the World Cup finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico (June 11th to July 19). FIFA President Gianni Infantino has met in Miami with US general Prosecutor Pamela Bondi and FBI director Kash Patel for corresponding talks.

Infantino described the meeting in the run -up to the World Cup for the first time with 48 participants as an “important meeting as part of the preparations for the orientation” and thanked for the “great cooperation at this meeting”. Neither FIFA nor the US authorities provided information about the specific content of the conversation.

Chaotic scenes at Copa América

Chaotic scenes took place in the World Cup venue Miami before the final of the Copa América between Argentina and Colombia (1: 0 n. V.).

The final was kicked off with 82 minutes of late. Thousands of fans without tickets had tried to get to the stadium. Similar incidents should not be repeated at the World Cup, but even at the upcoming premiere of the club World Cup (June 14th to July 13th).
