Darts: Clemens eliminated in the round of 16
In the round of 16, Dutchman Danny Noppert proved too strong for Clemens. After a balanced opening phase (2:2), Noppert pulled away, winning four legs in a row and thus the match. “The Freeze” played 102.13 points in average – while Clemens had 91.47 points.
In the previous rounds, Clemens had prevailed against Darryl Pilgrim from England (6:3) and in the all-German duel against Ricardo Pietreczko (6:4).
Already on Monday, at the first Players Championship tournament of the year, Clemens was impressive. The “German Giant” made it to the quarter-finals – where he was stopped by Nathan Aspinall (1:6).
It was his first PDC quarter-final since May 2025 – one day later, the next strong performance followed directly.
The shape curve is pointing sharply upwards
Clemens has had a difficult year. In November 2025, he revealed that he suffers from osteoarthritis. The German darts pro also announced that this could have serious consequences for him and that he might “eventually need an artificial ankle joint.”
At the World Championship in Alexandra Palace, Clemens then presented himself in impressive form. After victories against Alex Spellman (3:0) and Wessel Nijman (3:0), it was only in round three, after a spectacular comeback attempt against Luke Humphries, that he was stopped (2:4).
