FC Girona has reacted to Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury by signing a new goalkeeper. The Spanish top-flight club officially announced this on Tuesday.
Rúben Blanco joins Girona on a free transfer. The 30-year-old was most recently under contract with Olympique Marseille and Celta Vigo, but only made appearance five in the 2023/24 season.

Ter Stegen has already undergone surgery
Ter Stegen had sustained a thigh injury and had to undergo surgery. “The procedure went satisfactorily, and the player’s availability will depend on his recovery progress,” the club wrote on social media: “We wish you a good recovery, Marc!”
Ter Stegen had already announced in an emotional statement that he had decided to undergo surgery and would have to be sidelined for several months.
