The Egyptian professional from the English master FC Liverpool is given a special award.
He is already the English football champion, the title of the top scorer is hard to take away – now Mohamed Salah has also been chosen as the best player of the season in the Premier League.
For the third time, the striker of FC Liverpool receives the award that is awarded by the Football Writers’ Association (FWA). The Egyptian had already won the price in 2018 and 2022.
“Rarely was there a more popular winner than MO,” said John Cross, chairman of the FWA, “his overwhelming victory is just a reflection of an incredible season.”
Overwhelming majority for Salah
Of the 918 members who are entitled to vote, 90 percent voted for Salah, no winner had a greater lead in this century. Salah referred his teammate Virgil van Dijk and Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) to the places.
In the debut season of team manager Arne Slot, FC Liverpool had already made it clear to win the championship early two weeks ago. In the list of goal scoring, Salah runs with 28 goals three games before the end of the season, so the 32-year-old has scored five more goals than Isak. After his contract extension in April, Salah will go on goals for the Reds in the coming season.
