Darts: Humphries puts on the “Triple Crown”
With the Premier League title, Humphries completes the “Triple Crown” and joins an elite circle. He is only the fourth player to have won the PDC World Championship, the World Matchplay and the Premier League at least once. Only Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen have achieved this before.
“This means the world to me. This is what I really wanted,” Humphries said happily in the winner’s interview. Littler initially sat on the floor and was visibly dejected, but was then asked to join the interview by Humphries and was able to laugh again.
Both players delivered a head-to-head duel, but in the end last year’s winner Littler was narrowly beaten.
Humphries defies early deficit
In the initial phase, both players had problems on the doubles, especially Humphries. Littler quickly pulled away to 3:0, but Humphries stayed on and went into the break at 5:5.
