The son of English football legend Stuart Pearce has died in a tragic accident. City coach Pep Guardiola also expressed his condolences.
The former English national player Stuart Pearce is mourning the loss of his son Harley Pearce. The 21-year-old died last Thursday in a tragic accident involving a tractor. Now Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has also expressed his condolences to the family.
“On behalf of Man City, I would like to express my condolences to Stuart Pearce, his wife, and his family for the tragic loss of their son,” the Spaniard is quoted by the Daily Mail. “I know there are no words for this great tragedy, but we send our deepest love to him and his family.”
Stuart Pearce held the coaching position at City from 2005 to 2007, which Guardiola has held since 2016. As a professional, the successful full-back, who earned the nickname “Psycho” due to his uncompromising playing style, also wore the Citizens’ jersey from 2001 to 2002.
Harley was the younger of two children from Stuart Pearce’s marriage to his ex-wife Liz. The older daughter Chelsea is a successful eventing rider and has already won silver at the European Championships.
The family reacted with great shock to the loss. In a statement, it said: “Our family is truly devastated and infinitely saddened by the loss of our beloved son and devoted brother Harley.”
Harley was “a golden boy with an infectious smile” and “this terrible tragedy will leave a huge gap in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.”
According to initial findings, Harley Pearce lost control of the tractor he was driving – presumably due to a tire blowout – and veered off the road.
The son of the football icon lived near the accident site close to Marlborough in Wiltshire and ran his own agricultural services business.
