Hannawald complains: Nobody is “burning to move forward”

Sven Hannawald is dissatisfied

The last German Tour winner so far points out the problem after the latest disappointment and criticizes the German ski jumpers.

Sven Hannawald has criticized the German ski jumpers after the disappointingly concluded Four Hills Tournament. “It struck me again that we Germans weren’t able to ‘push even harder’,” said the 2002 Tour winner in an interview with RTL/ntv and sport.de.

Since the victory of the now 51-year-old, Germany has been waiting for another title at the prestigious event. And Hannawald is particularly baffled by how disappointments are dealt with. “I see few jumpers now who are really angry or just let off some steam because it’s simply frustrating that they can’t seem to get it right,” said Hannawald: “I don’t have the feeling that anyone is burning to move forward. And I think that’s a bit of the difference to Austria.”

Germany’s hopeful Philipp Raimund (25), who finished eighth overall in the Tour, was excluded by Hannawald from his criticism. “He’s full of attack, you can see his ambition,” he said.
