Nico Harrison has not been popular with the fans of the Dallas Mavericks since the Doncic hammer-now he is stuck against the German franchise legend.
Nico Harrison defended Luka Doncic’s controversial trade – and also fell against Dirk Nowitzki. The General Manager of the Dallas Mavericks immediately received a counterattack by Mark Cuban.
Harrison recently declared himself a conversation with media representatives for the first time since the Doncic subscription to the Los Angeles Lakers- however, that the reporters present did without video and audio recordings.
His statements were nevertheless reproduced by various US reporters. And they did not miss their effect.
Nowitzki critically after Doncic-Trade
What made headlines were the following sentences: “I serve the Dallas Mavericks and what is in the interest of the franchise. This is my main task. Some decisions may not be popular for Dirk (Nowitzki, note) or the fans, but I make these decisions for the Dallas Mavericks.”
Even if this quote fell on a direct question about Nowitzki’s criticism of the dismissal of long -standing employees such as athletic coach Casey Smith, it caused a lot of vertebrae. Because now even when it comes to Doncic, Nowitzki had not been consulted by the Mavs.
Harrison, who is already controversial at the fans, said, according to Johnny Resendiz from CBS News Texas : “You cannot ask people for advice who are not here every day. You don’t understand what the team daily, day out.”
Nowitzki jumps Cuban to the side
Nowitzki has been a consultant for the Mavericks since 2021. Most recently, the long-time NBA superstar, who, like many fans, reacted with incomprehension to the Doncic decision, but admitted that he hadn’t really been involved for some time.
The franchise legend still received backing immediately. The former Dallas owner Cuban jumped on to now and wrote to X: “Dirk is Dallas, he is the franchise. Then, today and forever. Nobody should forget that. His statue will stand here forever. Loyalty does not simply disappear.”
