The former series master makes Bonn clear and gets better and better at the end of the season. Matt Thomas is overwhelming with a career test.
Alba Berlin has finally registered with the third league victory in a row in the Playoff race of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). Led by the strong Matt Thomas, the former series master won after the successes against Rasta Vechta and the MHP Giant Ludwigsburg on Wednesday evening with 102: 88 (52:41) against Telekom Baskets Bonn and climbed to tenth.
There, the Berliners are tied with Vechta, but are five game days before the end of the main round due to the significantly better point difference in front of the Lower Saxony in the last starting place for the play-ins. The direct play-off places are not far away either.
Best thrower of the game: Matt Thomas
Against Bonn, the American Thomas towered out with a career value of 34 points.
“I definitely have to bring something for the team this week,” said the 30-year-old at the Dyn microphone: “We have to improve further. Hopefully we can develop a momentum at the end of the season and move into the play-offs.” It is only the second time that Berlin wins three league games in a row in the current season.
In the parallel game, the MLP Academics Heidelberg defeated the Niners Chemnitz with 81:66 (42:50) and passed in third place in the table past the Saxons. Both teams remain on play-off course.
