Super talent Cooper Flagg continues to amaze at the Dallas Mavericks: The 19-year-old forward for Dirk Nowitzki’s former franchise broke an NBA record in his team’s 121-123 loss against the Charlotte Hornets. Flagg scored 49 points – setting a new league best for teenagers.
Flagg, who was selected as the number one pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, then hit a three-pointer to tie the game 30 seconds before the final buzzer.

In the final seconds of the game, however, he committed a turnover and fouled his fellow rookie Kon Knueppel, who converted the decisive free throws. Knueppel excelled with 34 points, as did Flagg, who then missed the last shot.
Nevertheless, Flagg surpassed the long-standing record of Cliff Robinson, who scored 45 points as a 19-year-old in 1980.
