Nick Woltemade is making a big impact at Newcastle United. Coach Eddie Howe raves about the star striker and explains what makes him so special.
Newcastle coach Eddie Howe has praised summer signing Nick Woltemade in the highest terms, but also revealed in which areas the German international can still improve.
“As far as his settling-in period, his adaptation to the Premier League and our style of play is concerned, he has exceeded expectations,” Howe said at the press conference before the away game at West Ham United (Sunday, from 3 pm in the LIVETICKER).

“We had high hopes for him, but you never knew how quickly a player adapts to what you demand of him,” Howe clarified and made clear: “It’s to his credit that he managed to do that. I think that’s down to his attitude.”
In all competitions, Woltemade has already scored six goals for his new club in eleven competitive games. The English press is already talking about “Newcastle’s new hero.”
“He was very positive from the first minute. From the moment he walked through the door, he was completely himself, and nothing has changed. He’s a really cool, relaxed person and works very hard. That’s a great combination,” Howe praised his protégé.
Woltemade can still improve on this
The coach emphasized that Woltemade had been of “crucial importance” in some moves in the League Cup on Wednesday (2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur).
But he also said: “We still have to get more out of his game, but the first signs are really positive.”
Woltemade is “versatile” and “not one-dimensional”. Now it is a matter of remaining constant and being successful in the long term.
