Olympic plans: Johaub asks for more time

However, the Norwegian cross-country skiing queen will be appointed to the World Cup squad for the coming season.

Cross-country skiing queen Therese Johaug plays the question of continuing her successful career. The 36-year-old will be appointed to the World Cup squad for the upcoming Olympic season by the Norwegian association-it is open whether she will really be on a winter.

“I’m tired after a long and eventful season,” said Johaug on Friday, “and I have the feeling that I am not yet ready to make a decision about the future.” That’s why she asked for postponement. According to the association, there is no deadline.

Both the Norwegian royal family, the association and her husband Nils Jakob Hoff hope that the four -time Olympic champion will start her fourth winter games. Johaug had returned to the last season after her preliminary career end and baby break, but had missed the hoped-for gold coup at the home World Cup in Trondheim. In addition to three silver, the 14-time world champion won a bronze medal.

After that, she had known that she would stop “99 percent”. Later she showed that one last season was still possible.

“Therese gets the time that she needs. We will not put you under pressure at all,” said Norwegian cross -country ski officer Cathrine Instebö and emphasized: “Of course we hope that you will continue and prepare everything for it. But she decides all by myself.”
