Real Madrid makes a huge faux pas: Jota’s dead brother is mixed up

Liverpool and Portugal star Diogo Jota died in a road accident aged 28. Fans, officials and politicians said goodbye to the father of the family with a heavy heart.

During Real Madrid’s ordinary general assembly, a significant blunder occurred.

Former Bundesliga player André Silva was mistaken for Diogo Jota’s deceased brother, who is also named André Silva.

Mistake Regarding Diogo Jota’s Deceased Brother

On Sunday, a slideshow was played at the assembly to pay tribute to several deceased football figures.

This included Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who tragically died in a car accident in July. However, instead of Jota’s brother, the “wrong” André Silva, wearing an RB Leipzig jersey, was mistakenly displayed. The actually deceased Silva was not shown in the picture.

Silva, who was mistaken for the deceased, currently plays for league rival Elche CF and is set to face Real Madrid tonight (starting at 9 PM in the LIVETICKER).

Real released a statement and apologized for the error: “Real Madrid apologizes to Elche and its player André Silva for the accidental use of his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of the image of André Silva, brother of Diogo Jota. We regret the incident.”
