Shortly before midnight the darts evening comes to a completely strange end

Michael Smith and Chris Dobey have a battle of nerves in the decider and need 21 match darts to decide the round of 16 at the Grand Slam of Darts.

Michael Smith advances to the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts – after a completely absurd final phase!

Michael Smith has won an almost insane duel with Chris Dobey at the Grand Slam of Darts: The “Bully Boy” advanced to the quarter-finals with a 10:9 victory – and used his tenth match dart in total!

His opponent had even missed the target with eleven arrows that would have meant victory. “The strangest game – at least the final phase – I’ve ever seen,” judged expert Robert Marijanovic in disbelief.

Grand Slam of Darts: Smith can’t believe it

The Englishmen Smith and Dobey had delivered a highly exciting match, before it went into the decisive leg at a score of 9:9. Again and again, first one, then the other darts star looked like the sure winner – but again and again the decision was not made.

Especially Smith couldn’t believe what he was doing at the board – the 35-year-old repeatedly pointed irritably at his hand. When his tenth match dart finally found its way into the right field, there was not much to see of joy at first.

The two opponents almost relievedly fell into each other’s arms – a memorable game had found a winner.
