Skeleton World Cup: Grotheer fourth at halftime – Weston leads

Christopher Grotheer fights for a medal

Christopher Grotheer and Axel Jungk fight for a medal at the Skeleton World Cup. Gold has moved far away at halftime.

Skeleton Olympic champion Christopher Grotheer must worry about the successful title defense at the World Cup in Lake Placid. After two out of four runs in the Olympic ice channel from 1932 and 1980, the three-time world champion in four runs is in fourth place and is forced to force the decisive runs on Friday (from 4.45 p.m./Sportschau.de).

Grotheer is fourth with a 1.03 second behind the British ex-world champion Matt Weston (1: 49.02 minutes). World Cup winner Weston is clearly on a gold course in front of his compatriot Marcus Wyatt (+ 0.89). The Olympic second Axel Jungk (Oberbärenburg/+ 1.01), like Grothe, has chances of a medal. Felix Keisinger (Königssee) in 13th place (+ 2.17) has to increase for a top 10 placement.

On Thursday, the women around Olympic champion Hannah Neise will start the individual competition. In the previous year, Neise won on her home track in Winterberg together with Grotheer Mixed-Gold and drove to third place in singles. Jacqueline Pfeifer (RSG Hochsauerland) and Susanne Kreher (Oberbärenburg) also expect medal opportunities on Mount van Hoevenberg on the demanding railway on Mount van Hoevenberg.
