Skicross: Wilmsmann wins at World Cup general rehearsal

Skicrosser Florian Wilmsmann celebrates his third win of the season. In the overall ranking, the German is now ahead of the last two World Cups.

Skicrosser Florian Wilmsmann celebrated his third win of the season at the World Cup general robe and is ready for the climax in the coming week. At the World Cup in Craigleith/Canada, the 29-year-old was unable to beat on Saturday, and on Friday Wilmsmann narrowly missed the podium.

In the overall ranking, the German is now ahead of the last two World Cups in Idre Fjäll/Sweden. Wilmsmann, who had already triumphed this winter in Innichen/Italy and on the Reiternalm/Austria, passed with 850 points to Reece Howden (Canada/838) and Simone Deromedis (Italy/825).

In the Big Final, Wilmsmann prevailed in front of Wowden, the local hero had won the day before. Third in Kevin Drury was another Canadian. Tobias Müller and Florian Fischer failed in the quarter -finals.

For women, Daniela Maier was already in the quarter -finals after her seventh place on Friday at the second competition. The best German was Veronika Redder, who was the sixth to get her best World Cup position. The victory in Craigleith went to Fanny Smith from Switzerland as the day before.

Maier, Olympic bronze winner from Beijing, lost ground in the overall ranking. With 765 points, the 29-year-old slipped back to fourth place from the third. Smith (916) is new.

The World Cup in St. Moritz begins on Monday. The SkiSross races take place on the 22nd (qualification) and March 23 (finals).
