Darts World Cup 2026: Historical number of women in the Ally Pally

Lisa Ashton (l.) and Beau Greaves are at the Darts World Cup

The female participants for the Darts World Championship have been confirmed. The number is historic and has increased further thanks to super talent Beau Greaves.

The 2026 Darts World Championship (starting December 11th LIVE on SPORT1 ) is historic in several respects: Not only is the total number of qualified players at 128 historically significant, but so are the participating women.

With Beau Greaves, Lisa Ashton, Fallon Sherrock, Noa-Lynn van Leuven, and Gemma Hayter, a total of five women are now competing at the legendary Alexandra Palace in London. This has never happened before. The previous record was three female participants.

The qualification spots included three positions via the Women’s Series Order of Merit as well as the winner of the Matchplay.

However, since Greaves also qualified for the mega-event via the Development Tour, her qualification spot via the Women’s Series, which she leads, became available again.

The beneficiary of this is Hayter, who remained among the top five in the Order of Merit during the final weekend of the women’s series. The two other World Championship spots from the Women’s Series were secured by the “Queen of the Palace,” Fallon Sherrock, as well as the transgender woman Noa-Lynn van Leuven.

Additionally, Ashton qualified for the World Championship through her victory at the World Matchplay.

Meanwhile, the final weekend of the tournament series followed the usual pattern. After her two triumphs on Saturday, Greaves also won both events on Sunday. Thus, the 21-year-old finished the rankings with £37,600 – £23,000 ahead of the second-placed Sherrock.
