Mats Hummels is currently causing a stir in Italy. Now his coach speaks.
After the vertebrae for the humorous Instagram post by Mats Hummels, coach Claudio Ranieri denied tensions between him and the central defender at AS Rome. “Why are you always looking for polemics? Hummels is a German player who likes to visit Rome, a wonderful city. We like ourselves very much, there are no problems between us, ”said the 73-year-old.
On Monday, Hummels published a contribution on the Instagram social media platform, which had caused excitement. There, the 2014 world champion was in a good mood as a tourist in front of a bridge and in a restaurant. He also wrote: “Get the Oscar for the longest vacation …” – probably an allusion to Roma owner Dan Friedkin, who won five Oscars as a producer of the film Anora.
Media suspected criticism of periods of operation
The Italian media suspected that there were also criticism of his low operating times in the past few weeks. Club management and coach Ranieri had blamed him.
Hummels had reacted to the reports with incomprehension. “Crazy that someone says it is criticism of Mr. Ranieri, whom I appreciate and respect so much. Wow, ”wrote the 36-year-old Roma professional in his Instagram story on Wednesday. As soon as he would post photos from Rome, “People write ‘Vacanze en Roma’ (holidays in Rome) and that’s exactly what the joke is under my last post,” he continued.
Since February, the former BVB professional has only played two out of eight competitive games and most recently stood in series A against the bottom of AC Monza (4: 0) in the starting eleven. So far, Hummels has played 15 competitive games for the Roma, only six over 90 minutes.
