The Viennese midfielder Grgic does not notice that he should no longer play along – and therefore flies off the pitch.
Lukas Grgic no longer understood the world. The midfielder from the Austrian football record champion Rapid Vienna had just flown off the square – without being guilty. The curious scene in the Bundesliga game between Rapid and RB Salzburg (0: 2) caused a lot of stir in the Alpine Republic.
The already warned GRGIC was replaced in the 69th minute during an injury treatment outside the field, but noticed anything. Just as little as referee Alexander Harkam. When the ball rolled again, the impartial grgic gave the sign that it could come back into play.
When the 29 -year -old did that, Harkam interrupted the encounter – he had probably got the ear that he had made a mistake. But it was not the referee that had to be lost, but grgic, which was “forbidden” stormed onto the square: he saw the second yellow card, i.e. yellow-red.
Referee speaks of “misconception”
“The Harki is a great guy, but in my opinion he didn’t have the game under control at all,” said Grgic about Harkam, the crown reported on a “most curious yellow-red in Bundesliga history”.
At Sky, the referee spoke of a “bad perception” and a “chain of unfortunate circumstances that probably never happened again”. He campaigned “in the interests of sport” to give the mandatory lock for a game.
