Ex-Bundesliga coach Stöger before an explosive change

Peter Stöger is apparently facing a new job as a coach. The step has an arch rival’s explosive because of its past.

Idling around Peter Stöger! The 59-year-old is said to be the new trainer of Rapid Vienna. The ORF reports. Due to Stöger’s past, the change at the archrival Austria Vienna causes excitement.

Stöger is to be officially presented until the middle of next week, out of respect for his still employer Admira Wacker Mödling. Stöger has been working as a sports director there since 2023, and the club is currently still fighting for promotion to the Bundesliga.

In Vienna, however, the former BVB and Cologne trainer celebrated great success with Rapid-Rivale Austria. In 2013 he had led the violets to the last championship title to date before moving to Germany.

In 2019 he returned to Austria, initially as a sports director, later he took over the coaching post again. When he said goodbye in 2021, Stöger confessed to his club. “This is my home club, my district, my club,” said Stöger at Sky at the time.

At the same time, the Hütteldorfer would also be a return to the old place of work for Stöger. As a player, he wore the green-whites’ jersey from 1995 to 1997, became an Austrian champion in 1996 and stood with Rapid in the final of the Cup winner’s European Cup.

At Rapid, Stöger would follow the former Nuremberg coach Robert Klauß. Since its discharge at the end of April, the team is currently being looked after by Stefan Kulovits.

Stöger has not worked as a trainer for four years. In 2021 he coached the Hungarian top club Ferencvaros Budapest for half a year.
